ARTE Y DISEÑO PARA FASHION SHOW · Gustavo Adolfo Tarí
Art that expands a brand’s creative world
How can a collection’s creative world extend beyond the runway? An artistic collaboration can give it a new expression: an original artwork that enters into dialogue with the designer’s creations and carries through to the presentation and pieces available to the public.
Ofrendatario · Alexandra Belmonte × Gustavo Adolfo Tarí
An artistic collaboration for Gustavo Adolfo Tarí’s fashion show and exhibition space at Es Latina, Madrid. A fashion designer and regular collaborator with Shakira, Gustavo presented his creations in a setting that brought together fashion, music and Latin culture.
I created Ofrendatario taking inspiration from his crown for Shakira and the legend of El Dorado, which informed both the crown and the artist’s album. The painting explores this connection through my symbolic language, bringing together offering figures and animals that evoke memory, roots and transformation.
The artwork was also translated into T-shirts, limited-edition art prints and postcards. The fashion show team wore the T-shirts, making the painting part of the event’s presentation, while the different formats and price points offered visitors several ways to take a piece of the project home.
My role encompassed creating the original painting and developing its graphic adaptation for the front and back of the T-shirts, in collaboration with Brokey Factory.
What could art bring to your next project?
I develop artistic collaborations with brands, designers and venues, from the creation of an original artwork to its applications across products and events.
