Star Frog
Light pollution, caused by urban growth and human activity, makes it difficult to observe the night sky and affects the behavior of many species. Frogs, for example, rely on natural cycles of light and darkness to regulate their biological activity. Their calls and mating rituals are synchronized with the lunar phases and natural light, so artificial light can disorient them and disrupt their patterns.
In my illustration, a frog carries the stars it can no longer see on its body, serving as a metaphor for how light pollution impacts its habits and its connection to the natural environment.
30 x 30 cm oil painting and acrylic on 400g Canson paper.
