A visual artist's journey

Alexandra Belmonte is my name. I have always been Alex, and I’ve specialized in finding ways to adapt styles to the client’s needs, whether it’s for a series about the Middle Ages, a movie from the 1930s, recreating a laboratory, reimagining the Brothers Grimm fairy tales with the style of a studio, or creating posters and signage for an advertisement set in the late 19th century.
The task of understanding the graphic codes of each era fascinates me. This work, which I have developed over the past 15 years, has sparked a desire to create my codes and a personal graphic universe.
Today, I also introduce myself as a visual artist with the “Creature Ladies” collection. This collection was born upon my arrival in Madrid. I’ve had the opportunity to take some time to represent what fills me today, stepping away from the computer and using oil paints. I was eager to experiment with brushstrokes and create a more intimate body of work.
Finding a "style," a graphic voice, has been quite challenging, as I’m used to being a chameleon. So what better way to begin than with a self-portrait? Reflecting on what inspires me, and what I enjoy doing, has also been the driving force behind interviewing more people who inspire me, with whom I’ve felt accompanied during this new phase. Changing cities, and changing countries, is always a challenge. For me, creativity, the observation of beauty, and the stories of creators have always been an infallible motor. I’m hungry to discover many more stories that will continue to inspire me, to feed my visual artist's journey, to share them, and to illustrate them.
This journey I’m starting today on social media, with my blog, is a challenge that overwhelms me, yet opens up new creative possibilities, allowing me to share and meet more incredible people.
As much as possible, one must be guided by the heart. Well, the head helps too, but this is mostly a work of much effort, dedication, and heart.
